News about Climate Change and our Planet

Letter: Bonamici on right side of global warming issue – Pamplin Media Group

The author is a junior high school student who wants elected officials to fight climate change.

CONTRIBUTED - Nanati FeteneAs a junior student in high school, it was uplifting to read that U.S. Rep. Suzanne Bonamici acknowledges the urgent response required for climate change, and affirms that “We know we have to take action and start the transition to a clean-energy economy.” Knowing that there are people like Rep. Bonamici who are determined to take action towards a “clean-energy economy” motivates me for the work that’s awaiting us and requires everyone’s attention and participation.

I support the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act of 2019 because it encourages market-driven innovation of clean energy technologies to reduce greenhouse gas emissions which is one of the fundamental steps towards, “a clean-energy economy.” I stand with this bill because it addresses the most important issue to me, climate change. I believe climate change impacts everyone living on the planet earth in one way or another. It is a matter that cannot be ignored. The more we push solutions like this bill aside, the closer we get to the destruction of our planet. The actions we take today determine the type of world we hope to live in tomorrow because a justice delayed is justice denied.

I ask Rep. Bonamici and the rest of the Oregon delegation to work to pass the Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act. It is time to take bold steps to shift our national economy toward clean, sustainable energy, and secure a safe future for me and the rest of my generation, as well as future generations.
