Global warming is a real concern – Martinsburg Journal
I don’t know about you but I am beginning to get very concerned about global warming. I have no doubt we’re going to get slammed, big time. Major impacts have already started and will only get worse. Maybe we can’t stop all the effects barreling down on us, but we can still take steps to avoid total disaster.
The experts agree if we can reduce all emissions in the next 11 years we can prevent a climate catastrophe. To achieve this there’s an incredible amount we have to do but if we don’t do it now, it will truly be too late. We did it for World War II, we can do it now. Americans, when we get organized and work together, are some of the toughest, strongest people in the world. Organizing ourselves to win World War II was hard, too, but the alternative is disaster for us, for our children, for our grandchildren.
Right now Congress is introducing the Green New Deal. It’s a plan to get us out of this hole we have dug for ourselves. Maybe it’s not the perfect plan. Maybe someone can come up with something better, but until they do, we need to get moving, and this is what we’ve got. If we don’t start now, our grandchildren will live in a hell I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. Tell me: are you going to be able to look your grandkids in the eye and tell them you did nothing?
